I've had fun working on the bike. In what follows I reconstruct some of my learning and I link to material that I have found educational or otherwise interesting.
Perhaps you will find some aspects of my account useful if not entertaining. I've been somewhat surprised by how much technical information can be involved in fixing up a bike. I have found that being able to measure things is a key skill. Very analytical. I have also found that the bicycle provokes my imagination and I like that too.
I'm indebted to the mechanics who have written about their "re-builds" or taught skills by publishing videos. So, I'm writing about my re-build process too. Perhaps other people can learn from my experience. That's one motivation.
But, frankly, I'm not sure why I've spent time writing this up. There is a certain pleasure in writing about the process.
So too, the consolidation of the links and my current understanding about some technical details may be useful to me in the future.
More importantly, perhaps Eric, my wife Karen, and my friends will see something of interest that we can talk about - it might have nothing to do with the Super Course. Eric and Karen: When I've made my recent excuses to "hide" in the garage, this is what I'v been up to. I love you guys.
